12 Step 4 Compulsive Overeater Relationships is a 12-step email sharing loop for anyone with an eating disorder that also seeks to establish healthy relationship patterns as part of their recovery. By learning to accept that we are powerless over other people, and are able to meet our own emotional needs, we can start to separate our emotions from food. Here we will find others who understand what we are going through. We welcome everyone seeking recovery from compulsive eating. We are fellow sufferers in a self-help loop, not mental health or medical professionals. Members are responsible for their own recovery and mental health. Messages represent individual members, not OA or 12step4coes.
Our email loop has some basic guidelines that all members must follow for the benefit of all. Please, read our guidelines and be sure to follow them when you share:
Guideline 1: We share our experience, strength, and hope with fellow COEs. Our aim is to build recovery with positive messages of encouragement. Given the nature of codependence, members should be careful in sending solutions to others, but are encouraged to share their own successes using "I" statements. We treat ourselves and others with kindness, courtesy and respect.
Guideline 2: Ours is a spiritual program, but each member interprets spirituality in his own way. Therefore, we use only the spiritual terms God, God of my Understanding, or Higher Power.
